Dougie Sonnet II

Dougie Sonnet II

One cut piece of paper is all
You need to start a revolution.
You see, the foreign press is
Unaware of the secret needs of
Consuming Americans. For all of our stuff,
We’re as love-starved as a burning bush.

By this I mean, while all other shrubbery
Blooms, we’re safe in the alcove
Of some institution, but not able
To love one another. Why? Because
TV, the dash for cash, and the resulting
Inability to converse leaves no opening lines!

Hey there honey with the ball cap on your head,
Have you witnessed an example of what I just said?
